Our Wellness Journey Is One Of Choices

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”  ~  J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Sometimes choices are easy to make, sometimes they are not. But choices are what life is all about! Our wellness journey is one in which our goal is to balance all facets of our life so that we are at peace. Our goals are in alignment with our beliefs, and our outer world reflects our inner world.

I have been gifted with several opportunities lately, and the decisions that I made simply fell into place. I was offered a small writing opportunity in an upcoming book, and I took it. It will stretch what I do, and I get to work with someone that I admire. I have been asked to review a book, and I happily accepted this opportunity – solely based on the books title! I do have to say that I admire the author, but that is secondary in this case to an incredible title! Another opportunity I had to decline, although again I truly admire the individual that offered it to me. I simply did not have the time to do the work required.

The end of the month is coming, so I have the catalogs out for the wellness company that I joined. The first of the month I will be placing my second order, which will require some thought, as this company has so many outstanding products.

I also need a new computer, as soon as possible. This is a need and not a want. Well, perhaps both, but the need supersedes the want, as I have to log onto the phone line that I work for through the Internet, and I don’t have a backup computer. My current laptop, that has served me so well, is having some issues. Strange issues. So I will purchase a new laptop, and take my current laptop to the laptop doctors to have it cleaned up so that it can be my backup.

How do you feel about the decisions you are making? Do they reflect the life that you want?

Essential Beingness

“The only thing that ultimately matters is this: Can I sense my essential Beingness, the I Am, in the background of my life at all times?” ~ Eckhart Tolle

The above quote is from German philosopher Eckhart Tolle’s inspirational cards “A New Earth- Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose”. I have followed Mr. Tolle for many years – I share his quotes on a daily basis on my social media pages. He keeps me grounded and centered, and helps me to see life from a positive, all-encompassing perspective.

I went out yesterday to Star Nursery and ordered stones to be delivered for my patio area. (I live in the desert – small stones (gravel-like) are an acceptable alternative to grass. Both the house and the patio area seem to be pleased about this. (When I move in – almost four years ago – the patio area was not in good shape.) I was a bit nervous because I have never conversed with anyone about stones before, much less purchased them! The gentleman in charge of the ordering was very nice, and the entire experience went very well. Kudos to Star Nursery! My landscapers gave me all of the information that I needed (the dimensions of the yard, the thickness that I would want the stone covering to be, and that I needed to order a ground covering to put under the stones to deter weeds), for which I am very grateful! The stones and covering are to be delivered Saturday, my landscapers will put them in place on Sunday.

Am I happy, can I sense my essential Beingness at this time? In a word – yes!

Thankfulness

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity… it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” ~ Melody Beattie

Part of my morning routine is to list five things that I am thankful for in a e-file. I am the only person that that sees this file. Some of you are mumbling to yourself “This is really something that would mean more if you wrote it by hand.” Perhaps, but my handwriting is illegible – and pretty much always has been. So for me the availability of an e-file is a blessing.

This coming Friday I am going to be meeting in cyber-space with the lady who is my sponsor with the wellness company that I just joined. Together we are going to set some goals and decide on some actions to be taken. For me, having this individual as a resource is also a blessing.

I am not focused on signing up “X” many people a week/month. I am not even focused on actually signing up anyone. What drew me to this company is the quality of their products and the manner in which these products can enrich the quality of my life. This is what I want to share with others. I want to grow my business by helping others in whatever manner I can.

I have two projects that I am currently working on: (1) moving photo’s from my iPhone (to be saved on a thumb drive), and (2) editing a book that my co-author Brad Tesh and I currently have up on Amazon. The book editing is a no brainer – we want to get the best product out there, and Kinde makes it easy to edit. The photo’s are another story – I spent a large part of yesterday morning in tears, as many of the photo’s that I was moving off of my phone were of a very special pet that I lost unexpectedly earlier this year. I was blessed to have him (and his brothers) in my life, and I still miss him terribly.

What are you thankful for?

Journeying

“Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

What a wonderful journey this life can be! I am one of those strange people that enjoy cleaning house. I recently joined a wellness company, and part of my first order included bathroom cleaning products. Eco-friendly cleaning products. I enjoy using them, and I like how clean my bathrooms are, and how good they smell. I feel that I have accomplished something when I clan my house. That is important to me – to feel that I have accomplished something.

I am starting this week by setting goals. We don’t get anywhere unless we set goals. My top goal this week is to decide how I can bring balance into my writing life, my work life, and my new business. They all have to be supportive of each other. My time has to be well spent.

What I have found is that if I am consistent in what I do, I will succeed. If I am not getting the results that I want, I need to fine-tune the process. Consistency, and perseverance, along with a plan, will get me where I want to go.

Wellness On All Levels

“By eating meat we share the responsibility of climate change, the destruction of our forests, and the poisoning of our air and water. The simple act of becoming a vegetarian will make a difference in the health of our planet.”  ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Becoming a vegetarian has been a goal for me for many years. I tried many times, but it never lasted (I am a mid-western born, meat and potatoes raised individual). This time it is working – and I am very pleased. I have learned to cook with a vegetarian mindset, and to include protein powder whenever I can. I have made a note to myself to add protein powder to my next months Melaleuca order. (Which already has several items on it.) Now I have to decide whether I want regular protein powder, or a vegan alternative. Oh, wow … depending on which protein powder I order, I can get it in chocolate, classic vanilla, or strawberry!

I had a great time this am filling my bird feeders and watering my plants (all two of them!). I had to suggest to one little bird that he might want to leave the black sunflower feeder for a moment so that I could fill the feeder! This small space on my patio, which has always been a great place for me to relax, is becoming a true oasis!

I am looking forward to starting a line-by-line edit of “Invisible Me – Journeying Through The Soul”, which I co-authored with my friend Brad Tesh. It is already up on Amazon Kindle, but there were a few things that got by us (and a few things that are related to the formatting). We want to have the best book up possible, so this will be a very focused part of my writing journey.

Wishing you all a wonderful wellness journey!

Moving Forward

“You don’t have to have it all figured out to move forward. Just take the next step.”  Anonymous

We have to be willing to move forward to continue growing. It isn’t always easy, but as we step out, as we move forward, we open up our perception of what can be, and we open up our life. I did that in October of 2015 when I made the move from Washington State back to Nevada. It was an interesting (and scary!) trip, driving alone, with three cats and a packed to the brim car! But we made it (even after my alpha male managed to chew through his carrier while I was zooming down the freeway, and jumped onto my steering wheel!) The house that I had rented, unseen except for photo’s on the Internet, was perfect for us – in a safe, quiet neighborhood, near everything that I needed.

I had lens implant surgery done right after I moved to Nevada – long story short, I had cataract surgery done when I was in my early thirties on both eyes. The ten-year study had not been finished when I had my first surgery, so they were unable to implant a new lens. The interesting thing is that when the lens was implanted, it did not improve my ability to read, but it did give me better peripheral vision.

I am continuing my journey with reviewing books: I am currently reading a book from an author that I met on LinkedIn. I have reviewed his previous books, and am thoroughly enjoying this one also. I just received quite an interesting book from a delightful publicist that I have been working with for many years, and will be reading and reviewing it next.

I am incredibly excited about my decision to become involved in a new business! I am signing up for it on May 1st, and will take you on this journey with me! Opportunities that I would never have imagined as a young woman are opening up for me now.

Stay tuned!

The Law of Attraction

“Here’s the problem. Most people are thinking about what they don’t want, and they’re wondering why it sows up over and over again.” John Assaraf

The law of attraction came to my attention with the video “The Secret” . What an amazing concept, and so simple: we attract to us what we are focused on. There is a new feature film entitled “The Secret” starring Katie Holmes that will be coming out in 2019. Based on the book “The Secret”, by Rhonda Byrne, the storyline is crafted around the core principles of the law of attraction.

I was speaking with a friend yesterday about the Reiki III training that he is about to undertake. He sent me the link to the lady that will be teaching him. She is also a shaman, as well as a Reiki Master. When I looked her up on Google, the link to a site on Shamanism jumped out at me. The site was offering a free hour long video workshop on shamanic journeying, featuring Sandra Ingram. I signed up for it, and am lookiing forward to learning something new. BTW – I am also planning on taking an online course from my friend’s Reiki teacher on shamanism.

I share this with you to show you how things come into our life, if we pay attention. Beginning next month (May) I am beginning a journey with a new company that will act not only as an avenue to clean living, but also as an added stream of income. I will keep you updated on where that takes me!

What is coming into your life? Why is it there? What are you going to do with it?

The Beginning

Welcome to my journey. In my worldview, the journey that is our life begins before we are born, and continues on throughout our life. Here is where I am at in my journey: I am seventy years old, and in relatively good health (with the exception of dealing with IBS, and needing a hip replacement). I work from home and have worked for the same company for over twenty-two years. Before that, I worked for twenty-seven years as a medical technologist (ten of those years with the U.S. Army). I am a published author and am working to bring in a consistent profit from my writing.

I have seen many changes in my lifetime, and expect to see many more. I have tried several times over the years to follow a vegetarian lifestyle – not an easy task, as I was raised in the mid-west, with the meat and potatoes philosophy. This time it is working – and I fully intend to see that it continues to work.

My focus at this time is to follow a vegetarian lifestyle, to live a life of peace and harmony, and to use products that are nature-friendly. I will be sharing resources that I find that help me accomplish my goals. Hopefully, they will help you accomplish your goals too!
